NA2R is the longest running and one of the most lucrative competitions aimed at assisting unsigned artists in Australia. Now entering its 9th year, the New Artists 2 Radio competition is one of the many ways in which the commercial radio sector nurtures, supports and promotes Australian Independent artists.

The New Artist 2 Radio program offers unsigned Australian artists the chance to win commercial radio airplay, advertising, a distribution deal, marketing and media advice, nationwide exposure and the opportunity to perform in front of radio programmers, music directors and music industry professionals.

NA2R has helped launched the music careers of well known artists such as Cassie Davis, Faker, Delta Goodrem, Kid Courageous, Sarah Blasko, The Sunpilots, Little Birdy, Thirsty Merc, Ashleigh Mannix, Emma-Louise and Jade Macrae.

This commercial radio industry initiative aims to discover the next big act to be played on commercial radio throughout the country. The comp is open to unsigned Australian artists aged between 15-30 years who have not yet charted in the top 100 Australian National airplay chart. NA2R is one of the ways in which the commercial radio sector helps to nurture and support Australian musical talent.

NA2R has grown into a massive force that gives winners all the tools necessary to break into commercial radio, and music industry.

This year, 10 finalists will be selected with two winners announced.  The two winners will receive guaranteed airplay, across the day, on the major radio national networks for their new single valued at $1.3 million - a fantastic opportunity for new and emerging bands or artists.  This year winning acts will receive greater guaranteed radio airplay for a longer period of time to six weeks – to ensure maximum exposure.

One of last year’s winner, Finabah, have been one of the the most successful NA2R winners so far achieving unprecedented chart success!  Their single Everyone Jump debuted as the #2 MOST ADDED song across the country and #1 @ Nights the first week in! Jump also debuted @ #18 in the Australian artists Top 20 airplay chart peaking @ #2  in the AIR Radio Charts and was also AIR’s Mover Of The Week peaking at #5  in the AIR Independent Singles sales chart!

This year’s winners will receive:

• Six weeks of airplay on the Australian Radio Network, Austereo, DMG Radio, Southern Cross Media, ACE Radio, Prime Radio, Grant Broadcasters, and Super Network worth around $1.3 million.

• A digital single distribution deal with MGM Distribution submitted to ARIA & AIR for chart survey.

• Advice from VGM (Media & Marketing) regarding mainstream media, electronic and digital marketing and artist management as well as design of their single cover for digital radio servicing.

• Opportunity to perform live in front of key people from the commercial radio and music industries.

• Full page advertisement feature in The Music Network magazine and online

Entry is free and artists and bands can enter NA2R this year by uploading two of their best commercially savvy tracks, a bio and photo. Entries will be accepted until June 4.

Entries are judged by the Program Directors and Music Directors from all around Australia and judges are looking for tracks that have the potential to be played on Commercial Radio.  Wanna know what the judges are looking for – click here
